Olivia Dunn: Freelance B2B Brand Messaging and Positioning Strategist
Olivia Dunn (Liv) is a brand messaging and positioning strategist and copywriter with over two decades of experience across marketing, copywriting and brand identity.
Based in southwest England, on the border of Devon and Cornwall, she works with B2B brands and start-ups across the southwest and UK-wide.
Liv partners with clients and agencies to deliver strategy-led messaging, positioning and copywriting.
Born into an extended family of linguists and musicians, words and creativity run in my blood.
I spent a couple of years in the University of Exeter‘s development and alumni relations office, before working for two management consultancies where I led marketing and wrote for clients.
In 2022, I opened Profound to provide freelance copywriting. Through this, it became very clear that the value I bring is in helping brands articulate who they are and what they do at their core (along with how they say it). This is always where I start when developing a brief. I still offer high-quality copywriting, but am increasingly focused on messaging and positioning, which can be transformational and empowering for clients who know they’re better than they sound.
My approach is rooted in thinking, questioning and understanding before doing. Clients like my strategic thinking and the creative and often eye-opening conversations I facilitate.
I’m proud to have built long-term relationships with clients like University College Oxford, Breast Cancer UK and Multiverse, Transforming Learning Group, Halpin Partnership (now part of Huron), Perrett Laver, and Cairney & Co.
My office is in a working boatyard, and if I could tell you how much I love life by the river without sounding smug, I totally would.
Sidequest: I’ve combined my marketing and musical knowledge to write a book packed with practical tips on how to market your music on a budget.
Side-sidequest: My Substack publication, Eldress Voices, is where I’m sharing a series of interviews with senior, accomplished and badass women. Think of it as a cosy, wisdom-packed fireside yarn with your grandma.
