Based in the southwest and operating across the UK, Different View Ltd provides expert drone filming and visual production for maritime and complex environments. Read on to find out how I helped them sharpen their positioning and messaging.
Different View Ltd’s founder, Oliver Dickinson, was initially looking for a copywriter to help strengthen his proposals. He had feedback that he needed to more clearly demonstrate his creative approach and articulate why he was the standout choice for his target clients.
I was recommended to him by a mutual network connection. We had a chat, and as we dug deeper, it became apparent that the problem lay in his positioning and messaging. Building more content on these foundations would compound the issues unless we refined the brand’s core messages first.
Part of my process is to speak to people who know the brand and its founder well, because a variety of perspectives is illuminating. Through these conversations, I was able to highlight the most compelling aspects of Different View’s offer and provide my client with valuable insight into how the brand is perceived externally. Along with some marketplace research, this insight helped inform the positioning, and we were both able to see more clearly where his areas of differentiation truly lay.
From this, we developed a strategic messaging framework that reinforced the clarified positioning. This included a strapline that demonstrated Oliver’s creativity and also his exceptional customer service. It also included themes to base content around, light-touch tone of voice guidance, and supporting messaging tailored to his three main audience categories. I also included prompts he could use to keep everything consistent for any AI-assisted copywriting.
With the positioning and messaging tested on some trusted contacts and subsequently signed off, Oliver embedded it in a new proposal. I’m delighted to say the proposal was successful.
Next, Oliver plans to use the positioning and messaging to restructure his website and implement the new wording. I’m looking forward to watching Different View Ltd go from strength to strength.
